About
Pocket Verdict started as a group chat where four friends kept arguing about which game deserved space on a crowded phone. At some point the arguments got long enough that we decided to write them down properly, and the site grew out of that habit.
We're a small independent team. Nobody here is paid by a studio, and we buy or download the games the same way you do. When something is a free download, we say so; when a review took us thirty hours, we say that too.
Games get picked for a mix of reasons. Sometimes a title is everywhere and we want to know if the hype holds up. Sometimes a reader points us to something small and strange that nobody else covered. We try to keep the catalogue spread across genres so it isn't just another list of match-three clones.
Every review reflects how a game felt on a normal phone during normal days — on the bus, in a waiting room, late at night. That's where mobile games actually live, so that's how we judge them.
Marta Nowak — Marta has been writing about games for over a decade and still keeps three phones charging on her desk. She handles most of the longer reviews and all the arguments about difficulty curves.
